Nestled in the southern Indiana
hills, Owen County's status as an undiscovered secret has been
changing. While we still enjoy low population density, we are
growing! Pollution, traffic, and unnecessary light pollution remain
minimal. Located between Bloomington and Terre Haute, our terrain
is like Brown County but our sweet character is all our own. With
small industry booming, our employment rate is at an all-time
high. And with our proximity to several major colleges, you can
also pursue your educational goals!
Owen County's picturesque topography
includes magnificent hardwood forests covering hills and hollers.
We have abundant wildlife, including Great Blue Herons, songbirds,
hawks, owls, and coyotes (howling in the distance!) We have several
beautiful state parks nearby, including Indiana's first, McCormick's
Creek State Park. Also close is Lieber State Park with its large
recreational lake and Cataract Falls. Great water sources include
aquifers, rivers, streams, springs, lakes, and ponds. We have
the largest waterfalls in the state!
Our schools are consolidated, giving
us the advantages of smaller schools, but enough size to offer
an education often found in more urban settings. Major employers
include Cook Urological and Boston Scientific, as well as booming
small business and industry.

Come on down and look around!
